The Saudi Water Authority (SWA) has overseen the successful initiation of the first pump at the second water pumping station in Al-Jumum governorate. The operation was led by the Water Transmission and Technologies Co. (WTTCO) and marked the start of the Hajj season 1445H.

This project is part of the "Rabigh-Jeddah-Mecca" water transmission system with an investment of over 4 billion SAR and a pipeline length of about 650 km.

The project aims to provide a reliable water supply to the areas in the Mecca region, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

WTTCO later confirmed its operational readiness to supply the Mecca region with up to 1.3 million cubic meters of water on a daily basis. This comes after the Al-Maghamis tanks reached their full operational capacity, surpassing the intended storage of over one million cubic meters, and the pumping stations improved efficiency to 125% of their design capacity.

Furthermore, storage levels have been raised to 98% of the design capacity, and high-efficiency plans are in place to ensure quality and reliable water supply for the pilgrims.

SWA has confirmed that the water system is ready for production, transmission, storage, and distribution operations to meet the expected water needs and improve services during this year's Hajj season.
