A delegation from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretariat General visited the headquarters of the Water Academy, the training arm of the Saudi Water Authority, in Jubail. The visit aimed to enhance cooperation and partnerships in training and implement joint programs, based on the Secretariat General’s recommendations to accredit the Academy as a center for capacity building and technical training in the water sector for GCC countries.

The visit began with a meeting between the delegation and representatives of the Saudi Water Authority, where both parties discussed the training services provided by the Academy for recent graduates and employees in engineering and technical fields, in addition to specialized global courses in the water sector. A visual presentation followed, highlighting the Academy’s history spanning over 40 years as one of the leading training institutions in the Kingdom, along with its certifications and accreditations.

The delegation was then given a field tour of the Academy, where they reviewed the latest facilities, workshops, laboratories, and training halls equipped to the highest global standards. These resources contribute to enhancing the readiness of the workforce across various fields and specialties within the water sector.

The tour also included a visit to the Water Technologies Innovation Institute and Research Advancement, the research arm of the Authority, where the delegation was introduced to the institute’s human, research, and innovative capabilities. They also were briefed about the Authority’s future direction for research and innovation, aimed at optimizing environmental resources.

At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation expressed its appreciation for the practical and technical advancements seen in the water sector in the Kingdom, recognizing the capabilities of the Saudi Water Authority, which contribute to the development and innovation within this sector. The delegation hoped for enhanced cooperation in water technology and services to address global challenges.

It is worth noting that the Water Academy has received institutional accreditation from the Education and Training Evaluation Commission (ETEC) and has been licensed by the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) to train and qualify human capabilities.
