The water sector has enhanced its services in Al-Aflaj Governorate by doubling the amount of water produced and transported from the Al-Aflaj purification plant to 22,000 cubic meters per day, representing a 175% increase compared to previous quantities.

The system successfully increased its operational capacities and improved the level of services and its production capacity by upgrading and rehabilitating the sand filters at the plant, boosting the efficiency of production units and their components, and enhancing the overall performance of the production units at the station.

These operations and initiatives aim to ensure the sustainability and reliability of water resources by improving the operational efficiency of the station’s systems, rehabilitating water sources, and empowering national cadres.

These efforts are being carried out under the supervision of the Saudi Water Authority and within the framework of the collaborative work between "Water Desalination" and the "National Water Company" to elevate and develop the level of services provided, in line with the National Water Strategy and supply and demand plans managed by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture. The goal is to enhance the quality and sustainability of water supplies and ensure continuous availability around the clock for beneficiaries across the Kingdom.

It is worth noting that the water system in the Kingdom serves 1,430 residential communities, with a production capacity of 11.5 million cubic meters per day, strategic and operational storage of over 40 million cubic meters, transmission systems extending over 14,000 kilometers, a distribution network of 130,000 kilometers, and a sewage network exceeding 55,000 kilometers.
